Benefiting Local Charities

PATH, Inc. will receive race proceeds from the Running of the Turkeys 5k. With partner grocery stores buying less food and therefore donating less, PATH’s inventory can get very low at times, while its client base continues to grow.  Started in 1982 by the Western York County Christian Ministerial Association, PATH has been serving the citizens of York and surrounding communities for 40 years. The non-profit organization includes a food pantry and associated thrift store and provides emergency aid for utilities and other needs for those in crisis.

The York School District One Education Foundation will also receive a portion of race proceeds.  The YSD1 Education Foundation was formed in 2020 to enhance relationships among businesses and communities by providing resources to enrich learning and maximize innovative opportunities in the York School District One.  The YSD1 Education Foundation has five areas of focus being, literacy, teacher grants, family and community engagement, and facilities.  www.ysd1foundation.org.

The Running of the Turkeys 5k understands the importance of a healthy and vibrant community offering assistance for those in crises and greatest need.  Our race team and hosts understand poverty and education are inextricably connected, so the support of local educational initiatives can help combat the underlying structures of poverty.
